Pre Reading Instruction and Word Wall

Introduce specific vocabulary words one at a time, providing clear definitions and examples and creating a visual display of key vocabulary words. Include definitions, examples, and related images.

Prior to engaging with a text, it’s beneficial for learners to be introduced to particular terms that will appear in the material. Pre-reading instruction of significant vocabulary can aid in the acquisition of new words and enhance understanding of the text. It reinforces word meanings and provides a reference during reading (Lyon, n.d.).
